Imam Amin has a Master of Social Work Degree and Licensed Graduate Social Worker, Pursuing Masters Degree in Islamic Studies at American Open University, studied Islamic studies nationally and in Egypt. He is a faculty member at Sojourner-Douglass College in Baltimore City and an administrator with the Maryland’s Department of Human Resources’ Office of Licensing and Monitoring. He is presently the Imam at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and Islamic Chaplain at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the Islamic liaison to former Mayor O’Malley’s administration of Baltimore City.
Imam Amin was the radio host for Baltimore’s first Islamic radio program. He was the first Muslim to present Islam on a local television’s sunrise morning program. Imam Amin was the principal, for over five years, at the Islamic Community School of Baltimore City. He presently is the volunteer Social Worker for at least twenty-two years at the Islamic Community School of Baltimore City.
He is the Executive Director and Founder of the Muslim Social Services Agency, Inc. of Maryland and the Director of Social Services of Muslimat Al-Nisaa’s Muslim women and children homeless shelter. He is a board member of the Muslimat Al-Nisaa, homeless shelter for women and children and he is on the board of MercyUSA. Whose work is alleviating human suffering and providing community needs worldwide. Imam Amin is a trainer and Muslim Liaison Leader for Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Emergency Management for Muslim call out workers.
He has also trained Doctors, Nurses and students at Johns Hopkins Hospital, about the Islamic faith and caring for Muslim patients. Imam Amin has given workshops and seminars on Domestic Violence, homelessness and the Islamic faith. Imam Amin is a former paratrooper with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

The Oobah Project, “oobah” meaning water in Pashto, serves to provide assistance for the installation and maintenance of clean water delivery systems, specifically water well pumps, in rural villages in Afghanistan. The project was founded by Sahar Rakin and Riga Qadir, both Afghan-American Muslims.
ZeinaAwaydate is the founder of Project Zaid, a program aiming at teaching life skills to orphans in her hometown in Tripoli through trained volunteers that act as big brothers and sisters to the children, providing them with needed individual attention and support. Zeina has been nominated as a Synergos Fellow and an Arab World Social Innovator for her project; she was also a finalist in an Arab reality TV show hosted by Amr Khaled called Mujaddidun (“Revivers”) aimed at promoting volunteering and positive social action. Zeina currently works as a Marketing and Fundraising Officer at the Lebanese Association for Scientific Research and has plans to launch a life coaching business
Anwar Ahmad Khan was born in Sialkot to Dr. Rauf Ahmad Khan, graduate of DOW Medical College and Mrs. Sanjeeda Khan; graduate of Oriental College in Lahore, in 1971.
Soon after, the family briefly moved to Riyadh so Dr. Khan could pursue his talents as a practicing medical doctor. After a couple of years, the family settled in England where
Mr. Khan and his siblings grew up.
After graduating with honors from The University of Birmingham, Anwar made a decision to pursue his passion in humanitarian work and professionally joined Islamic Relief in 1993.
In 1994, Mr. Khan arrived in the United States with the intention of spending a couple of months with his colleague to assess the opportunities for establishing a US branch of the organization. He spent years visiting cities and working with grassroots organizations across the country to build a base of support as one of the founders of Islamic Relief USA.
Nineteen years later, Islamic Relief USA sits amongst the top 2% of all Non Profit Organizations in the United States of America according to Charity Navigator.
Anwar Khan has risked his life visiting some of the most dangerous areas of the world including Chechnya, Darfur, Gaza, and many others. His has also responded to earthquakes and volcanos as far apart from Haiti to Indonesia. Apart from his international efforts, Anwar was also involved helping in the United States during Katrina, and recent the tornadoes in Texas.

He held posts as a physician and researcher in Canada, UK, and Kuwait. The mother of three has worked tirelessly and passionately for a cause that has become synonymous with her name in southern California – foster care. As founder of New Star Family Center, a social services organization, Meloni can often be found deeply involved in a case, advocating for the children and families as if they were her own. Her efforts include diligently organizing and attending events in the Muslim community to raise awareness of the need of foster children and families, and getting Muslim parents certified to become foster parents. Meloni moved to the United States with her family from Italy at the age of 14, and she accepted Islam after reading a Qur’an and attending classes at a mosque.
